A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life – Amy Treasure

Happy Friday everyone. Friday means it’s time to feature a parenting blogger again with a day in their life.

Today it’s Amy from Amy Treasure. I am following her blog for quite some time and got some great blogging tips off her blog. Over to you Amy.

First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.

Hi! My name is Amy and I am a 36 year old mum of three. I’ve been married to Justin for 11 years, our three children are: Lewis, 17, Holly, 16 and Rose, 3. I’m a full time blogger and freelancer and we live in Bristol.

How many times were you woken last night?

Twice which is actually not bad going for us!

Do you co-sleep?

Not intentionally anymore but we did until Rose was 2. We have tried (and failed) to get her to sleep in her bed all night and it is inevitable that there will be an extra body in with us 9 times out of 10!

What time do you normally wake up?

6.30am because we have to leave the house by 7.30am to do the school run. On a weekend I would happily
languish until gone 9am (if my children let me!)

How much average sleep do you get a night?

6 or 7 hours.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Make a cup of coffee

Tell me about your typical morning routine.

Up by 6.30am, have a coffee with my husband. Wake the kids up. Let the smallest watch tv in our bed. Do my make up and get dressed. Get smallest dressed while checking middle daughter is getting ready, by this time my oldest, Lewis, will have left for work with Justin. Us girls then usually grab breakfast which is usually toast or fruit and take it into the car. Holly gets dropped to the bus stop where she normally has to make a run for the bus (while Rose and I cheer her on from the car!) I then take Rose to school and on a good day I will be home by 8.45am.

When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.

I love to cook! I cook fresh every night, could be anything from a homemade curry to a more simple pasta dish. Last
night we had crab linguine but I didn’t tell my older ones it was crab until after they’d eaten it because I knew I’d face objection! They actually all really enjoyed it. We tend to eat out on the weekend though or will have something easy like a pizza.

What’s on the menu for lunch?

I’ve got pesto pasta today.

What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?

Well my oldest is working today, Holly has college and Rose has school. On the weekends we do things like go to the beach, the park, soft play or museum for the youngest if it’s raining.

Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?

I try and make sure we all eat together.

What do you do after dinner?

Homework then a bit of tv time and before long it’s time to start getting ready for bed.

What is your bedtime routine?

Same every night for the youngest: Bath, book, bed which is my husband’s job. The older two sort themselves out
which is nice!

Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?

I blog during the day and try and stick to ‘office hours’ unless I have a deadline and then I can be found burning the midnight oil! I do have a schedule but tend to prioritise work in order of importance.

Thanks Amy. Sounds like a very organised mum.
