A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life – Love Life and Little Ones

Welcome back to “A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life”. It’s exactly two months since I started this blog series and I can’t believe so many people are interested in featuring. Again thanks so much to everyone who took part so far and to everyone remaining coming up in the month of November and December. Keep them coming. We love to read a good story about a day in a parenting blogger’s life.

Today I have Laura on the blog from Love Life and Little Ones. Say hello. Now over to you Laura.

First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.

My name is Laura Doyle and my blog is Love, Life and Little Ones. I am a 28 year old mum of three and part time beauty therapist! I have a 6year old son Kyle and a 2 year old daughter NoaBelle and a 6 month old baby girl called Briar. I blog about all things parenting, beauty and lifestyle related. Parenting is the predominant focus of my blog but as a qualified beauty therapist beauty is also my first love!

How many times were you woken last night?

Briar is 6 months old and breast fed. She wakes often in the night I feed her and we both go straight back asleep so I may have been woken 2/3 times. The nights are a blur at this stage and they all roll into one!

Do you co-sleep?

Yes we co-sleep. I love it. We co slept with Noa but she was in a co sleep but most nights after I fed her she would just end up in the middle of us anyway. So with Briar we didn’t even bother with a co sleeper since the day she was born she’s been beside me in bed. (I snuck her into the hospital bed beside me too) I think while breastfeeding for me it makes it much easier if we co sleep. Often times I will fall asleep as I’m feeding her and then so will she. For us it optimising the amount of sleep we get.

What time do you normally wake up?

Noa is an early riser. She can wake any time from 6 and will usually wake Briar so Neil will get up with them and then I will usually get up about 7 for a shower and then Neil will have his and get ready for work!

How much average sleep do you get a night?

It varies alot! But on average 8 hours with 2/3 breast feeds of about 5/10 mins thrown in!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

First thing I do when I wake up is check my phone! I usually have it off during the night so I turn it on and check it.

Tell me about your typical morning routine.

As I said I’ll usually get up about 7 have a quick shower, get Kyle up for school and get his breakfast, get ready and we leave for school about 825. Neil will have the girls fed their breakfast already and Kyle lunch made for school. We try and have as little stress as possible in the mornings and have everything ready the night before!

When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us
a few examples what you would cook.

On busy days I try to cook dinner at the girls nap time. But when the day is busy I will just wait until Neil gets home from work and make it then at 5.

What’s on the menu for lunch?

Lunch changes day to day. Noa loves eggs so today it’s brown toast with avocado mash and poached eggs for lunch for me and Noa. Kyle will have his lunch in school and then a snack when he comes home. Today his snack will be a tuna and sweet corn wrap and a banana. Although he will beg me for a Nutella and banana sandwich!

What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?

Today is a busy one for us. In the morning Noa and I do books or puzzles or colouring and then it’s nap time. After school Kyle has his dance class then home for dinner and then he has football training!

Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?

We always eat together. It’s something I’m very insistent on. I think it’s a perfect way for everyone to sit down for half an hour in our busy days and connect and chat. It’s important for each one of us at the table to eat dinner together. It’s my favourite time of the day.

What do you do after dinner?

After dinner we start our bedtime routine.

What is your bedtime routine?

Briar goes down first she goes down about 7, I feed her sleep so I do that and Neil does stories with Noa.. Then Neil puts Noa to bed. It varies from night to night but whoever is free first Neil or myself let Kyle read a book to us and then put Kyle to bed, the other one of us usually cleans up after dinner!

Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?

I work usually Thursday and Friday evening as a beauty therapist. And any other evening an hour usually is spent blogging or editing a YouTube video. I usually just film our vlogs at weekends and try to blog just on a sat/sun morning! Neil helps me edit our YouTube vlogs too so that takes some time pressure off too!
