A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life – Mrs Mummy Harris

Good morning everyone. What a busy week it was in work. I hope your week went a bit easier. We have a lovely weekend planned with the cousins. It’s nice to change the scene for the kids.

Today featuring in the blog series is Lianne who blogs at Mrs Mummy Harris.

First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.

Hey peeps! I am Lianne, I have just returned to work from eight long months of maternity leave!! Don’t get me wrong, I love my son, but there is only so many times you can hear Little Mix on repeat before you start twitching!!

How many times were you woken last night?

Twice – Which is a bad night. He woke up at 2am and then 5am so I only got about 4 hours sleep =[

Do you co-sleep?

No. Ben has his own crib and if he starts drifting off to sleep in our bed we pop him in his crib. I’m so worried I’ll turn over and squash him – plus he fidgets a lot like me!

What time do you normally wake up?

Usually at 6am, but I hate it. In my old job I woke up at 7 and that extra hour helped i tell you!

How much average sleep do you get a night?

If Ben is in his usual routine (he was sick over Christmas which has had a lasting effect) I’d get 7 hours on a work night and on Wednesdays when I have a day off I’d get about 10.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Shower. Well I lie, I usually bitch and moan to Hubby for waking me up haha.

Tell me about your typical morning routine.

After my moaning session I get washed, dressed and whilst I’m getting dressed; Hubby is showering and then he will sort Bens nappy whilst I check his and my bag has everything needed before we leave the house – Hubby’s parents mind Ben whilst I work and have offered to dress and feed him in the morning so we get quality time in the morning with him.

When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.

Last week was my first week back and take outs and microwave meals or chips with something junky was our dinner. But Tesco do a slow cooker for £10 at the moment so I got one of those and plan to cook things from scratch as I know we need to get our good eating back on track!

What’s on the menu for lunch?

Peanut Butter Sandwiches, crisps and some kind of sweet for afters.

What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?

I don’t. Ben usually goes out for a walk with his Nan as they live right near the town so no doubt that will be their day planned.

Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?

Ben is usually asleep when I get home unfortunately, but even on my day off he eats dinner around 4pm to allow time to digest before his bedtime which is anytime between 6-8. We always take his cue with sleep.

What do you do after dinner?

Mong out and blog! It isn’t often I get quiet time with Ben around, so it gives me decent time to focus on what I want to write!

What is your bedtime routine?

Hubby usually sorts all the cat bowls and refills their water bowls whilst I go upstairs to get ready for bed. We always have the tele on to go to sleep with and before I go to sleep I usually get a back scratch from Hubby – its really relaxing and I hate not having one before bed.

Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?

Every lunch break I try my hardest to get one post written at least. Luckily I’m already a week ahead with my posts but I still feel the heat!

I use the commute home as my blogmin/linky time. That’s where most of my comments are done but also the time straight after dinner is linky time.

Thanks so much for that Lianne. I am not the only one so that is asking for a back scratch. I sometimes push it even further and ask for a massage too. This has only become a regular thing since I was pregnant with my first.
