A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life – Mummy To Logan

Morning to you all.  It’s Friday. Even though I was working only three days this week, it was dragging. But we are at the end.

Featuring in my blog series today is Maria who blogs at Mummy to Logan.

First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.

I’m Maria, I’ve recently turned 24 years old but often get mistaken for an 18 year old, I suppose I should take that as a compliment. I live in Wrexham where I was born and raised and it’s not a bad town but could be better. Before I fell pregnant I was looking for a job as I’d just graduated from University, but I wouldn’t change anything, I’m so happy I have my little boy. I blog over on mummytologan.com which I enjoy and hope you will too. I love adult colouring books and video games, want to know more? Then check out my blog.

How many times were you woken last night?

Last night, like most nights, wasn’t the best but my partner Rob helps where he can, especially if he’s off work the next day or isn’t in till late. But Logan does tend to wake up a couple of times a night and then he’s up for the day at around 6 am :’(

Do you co-sleep?

No, but In the earlier days when Logan was sleeping his cot in our room, and whenever rob woke up for work I used to put Logan in bed with me so I could get some cheeky few hours kip.

What time do you normally wake up?

If rob has a day off, he’ll usually let me have a lie in which I appreciate a lot. But otherwise, I wake up around 7/8am.

How much average sleep do you get a night?

Depends, because I struggle to go to bed early as after I’ve put logan to bed that’s when I do most of my chores and time for me and rob to relax and for him to play on his PlayStation and for me to catch up with my social media/blog work. I usually go to bed at around 11 pm or 12 am and then I’ll wake up a couple times to see to logan as he still won’t settle during the night without a milk feed and then I’ll get up at around 6/7am.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

The first thing I do when I wake up is, wishing I didn’t have to wake up. But I go to the loo, brush my teeth put Logan back in his cot with his toys, and go down to make him a bottle and get myself a drink of orange juice.

Tell me about your typical morning routine.

6 am bring Logan into bed with me – try to go back to sleep for an hour (But doesn’t work)

7 am play on my phone and browse social media to wake myself up

8 am go down and put ITV on the telly – give Logan his bottle

9 am still watching telly (but if it’s a Wednesday I’ll be getting ready to go to Chatterbox with Logan – his favourite day of the week I imagine.

10 am Logan will have some toast/crumpet or banana porridge

11 am i may take a walk down to the local shops with Logan in the pram

When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.

Because me and rob like mostly different foods(which is a big pain in the butt) we usually have to prepare our own meals. But sometimes we’ll have the same meals and rob will offer to cook most nights and I’ll cook during the day especially if he wants a cooked breakfast or chicken dinner. A typical meal for us is chicken drummers, sweetcorn, chips and onion rings (not the healthiest I know, but when budget is tight we have to sacrifice somewhere)

What’s on the menu for lunch?

Lunch will either be a sandwich, a meal deal from the spar or something out of the freezer

What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?

Well because Logan is not of the age where we can do a whole lot, I don’t tend to plan much and since me, or my partner can’t drive it’s difficult to plan days out anyway. But if we did take Logan anywhere it would be the local soft play or fun days in with all his toys and his jumperoo.

Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?

Usually, logan will eat before he has a bath and bed, but I and rob eat after logan has gone to bed at around 7/8pm depending on how easy he was to settle that night.

What do you do after dinner?

After dinner, I will usually watch the soaps, whether that’s EastEnders or Coronation street and rob will play on his ps vita. But if there’s shit on telly then we might pop in a blue ray to watch or I’ll go on my laptop and rob will do whatever 😉

What is your bedtime routine?

My bedtime routine is pretty simple, whenever I get tired I’ll go to bed, and I’ll play on my phone for a while until I get super tired and hoping logan stays asleep I will slowly nod off and hope I get at least a few hours none interrupted sleep.

Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?

Schedule? Erm nope not yet I just blog as and whenever I can fit it in if there’s certain days where I take part in a linky then I’ll make sure that blog post is up that day but other than that there is no set plan. But I really want an organised schedule, for example, I’d love to know that a blog post will be up on a Sunday or a day in the life type post would be up on a Tuesday etc. Here’s hoping I can make something work soon.
