Living Arrows 12/52 St Patrick’s Day Weekend

What a fun filled weekend we had. On top of that we got an extra day. On Friday it was St. Patrick’s Day which is a public holiday in Ireland. We had lots of plans made. Matthew’s godfather was coming over with his son and his wife. His son is nearly fourteen years of age so Matthew had lots of fun playing with him.

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side and it was drizzling rain most of the weekend but that still didn’t stop us from keeping to our plan. On Friday Matthew’s godfather went to the parade in Dublin City while we sat at home and watched it on the TV. Cosy and not getting wet. I am glad we didn’t go because he said it wasn’t that good and it was only an hour long. Normally the parade starts at midday but this time it didn’t start until 12.40pm for some reason.

On Saturday we decided to go the zoo. The kids had their warm, water resistant coats on and Chloe was under the rain cover anyway so we were able to have some fun in the zoo. Daddy didn’t come with us because he went to a rugby game. We all had a big fry in the morning which meant we didn’t need a big lunch. The kids got a few snacks while there. Even though the weather was bad, there was still a lot of people. Most of them were tourists I’d say though. Matthew loved seeing all the different animals but he was particularly fascinated by the monkey with the red bum. I think mainly because on his map there was a monkey with a red bum. Chloe just mainly loved the birds flying around. Matthew was fascinated by the massive snakes. (Python)

On Sunday we started off with some mini golf just before lunch. There is an 18 hole mini golf course indoors only ten minutes away from our house which is very handy. Matthew has only ever been to it once but he knows from last time that after he can get a lollipop. He really enjoys playing mini golf. He doesn’t do it right yet but that will come. It’s only for a bit of fun.

Alan’s wife had to go home because she had an early start of the week. Daddy was off playing tennis with Alan’s son. The kids and I had some lunch and it was time for Chloe’s nap. We watched a movie and when they got back and Chloe was awake from her lunch time nap, we all headed out to Liffey Valley for some dinner. The car park was packed. I know it’s Dublin but we didn’t get there until 4pm and the shopping centre closed at 7pm. We got a space in the end and went for TGI Friday’s. We had to wait twenty minutes but there was queues in all restaurants. It was worth it. The food was amazing. I had bruschetta and Cheeseburger deluxe. Chloe enjoyed some plain pasta with melted butter and garlic bread and she also had some of my burger. Matthew wanted hot dog and chips but he ended up only eating the chips and some of the bread really. Matthew got a blue drink for kids which had curacao in it. It tasted good I have to say.

He got to pick himself a pair of sunglasses today. They are still a bit big but he is delighted with himself.

I had been hoping to get home this St. Patrick’s Day to take BattleKid to his first parade but couldn’t because the flights were mad money due to the rugby. I’m glad we didn’t now as both you and others have said the parade wasn’t great.

Sounds like you packed it in though that weekend and this is a lovely roundup of pictures. Your little man looks very cool in those sunglasses. #livingarrows

I think it’s so fab you get a day off for St Patrick’s Day. Here in Wales, I remember when I was a little girl, we’d go to school dressed in our traditional Welsh outfits and then get a half day off! Then they stopped doing it. I’d love for it to be a bank holiday now. They always have a parade in the centre of Cardiff but it’s hard to go when you have work and school to consider.
