Siblings in February

Another month has passed and it’s time again to see how brother and sister have been getting on the last month.

The month of February started off with a celebration. It was Chloe’s second birthday. We had a small party for her at the weekend and had cousin’s over. The weather was on our side and they were playing outside half the time.

The last month was actually very quiet. We have been very lazy and neglected the outside walks a bit. It’s coming close to spring now which means, well I am hoping, the weather will pick up again and we can go and explore the local area. There are a few things on our list. First is probably to find an outdoor playground. We haven’t been to a playground in months.

Above photo was taken in the living room. Matthew wanted the tunnel out to watch some Transformers. He’s obsessed with super hero’s bit particularly Transformers. This is only the cartoon version of it but I think I might have you watched the actual Transformers movies with him. I’m sure he will love it. Chloe was crawling around him watching him, annoying him, crawling into the tube.

I thought this one was adorable. I can’t remember what they were watching at the time but it might have been Mickey Mouse. They had their snacks in a bowl which was grapes and both sat down on the sofa together with the cushion on their knees.

Chloe is copying everything Matthew is doing lately. Including the crying… we definitely need to work on Matthew’s behaviour. He doesn’t listen a lot of times and that applies to creche too. I want him to be the best boy when he enters big school in September. Chloe must be the tidiest girl in her room. She’s so good cleaning up after herself. As soon as she sees me coming to collect, she goes into tidying up mode and only then she wants to leave.

Siblings in January

It is the first link up of the year to the Siblings Project. I am so excited to be joining this year again and see brother and sister grow over the next year. This month mummy is turning the big 30. I know when hubby reads this he will have his say on my age. I don’t even feel like 30, neither do I feel like 20 or 25 and I certainly don’t look like 30. For my 30th I am heading to London. I absolutely love traveling and I would have traveled somewhere else but because it is the winter time right now, there is not much point going anywhere else in Europe in the freezing cold.

We have Christmas and New year’s behind us and for me it was back to reality the last two weeks. This meant the kids were back to creche. I would have thought that it is going to be an absolute nightmare to integrate them back into it after being off for two weeks but it was actually a walk in the park. They went in the first day after their holidays no problem. Chloe definitely enjoys creche I have to say. She has her little best friend Ava and they are like best buddies. Just by chance, the other day, I found out that she lives in the same estate as us only a few houses down the road. I don’t think her parents know that though. I’d say it’s time to be introduced.

Just before New Year’s we had Matthew and Chloe’s cousins over from Dublin and Germany. Ten kids in one house. Maniac. I wasn’t there at the time because I had to work but I saw all the photos hubby took. It looks like the kids had great fun especially  Matthew. He always goes wild when they come over. Chloe is a bit more attached and doesn’t know what to make of all the people in her house.

Since the new year we have taken it slow and haven’t done anything mad yet. The kids enjoy having a sleep in at the weekend now. As both kids end up in our bed most nights, they started holding hands in their sleep. It is the cutest thing ever. Hubby told me about it a few days ago.

Last weekend we went on a nature trail. Chloe loved seeing all the different trees and animals like ducks, horses and swans. We are trying to do something as a family at least once at the weekend now. There is only so little time because we work during the week and it is nice to do something together as a family in my opinion. We’ve discovered a bowling alley and mini golf center nearby recently that we are going to try out in the next few weekends. I’d say Matthew is definitely going to enjoy that.

Siblings in December

Wow only for the fact that I have seen Alex from Bump to Baby post on Instagram about the Siblings project this month, I would have completely forgotten to link up again. This month has flown even quicker than last month. What do you think? I seriously need to invest in some organizer or something. If you know a good one, throw a few names at me.

Looking back on last month sibling projects, it feels like I have taken those photos months ago. I suppose most of them were taken at the end of October but even so, it’s mad.  I took loads of photos from the two in the last month. Which leads me to the fact that they are playing more and more together. It’s so nice to see how good they are getting on together as brother and sister (minus the times they kill each other over a toy or book)

We went to see the Coca Cola Christmas truck at the end of last month. While waiting to have our photo taken, daddy and Matthew went off to buy some snacks. They got some buttons. Matthew loves buttons. When he came back and I opened them for him, he started to give Chloe some. He said “Yeah, because Chloe is my best friend”. How cute is that. They shared buttons together, even though each one of them had their own pack. He even put it into her mouth.

We spent a lot of time in the house now that the kids have way more space than they did in the old house. They love cruising around the downstairs area with their bus and airplane chasing each other. A few days ago I picked up a new ride on for Chloe. Really it’s part of her Christmas presents but she gets more fun out of it now instead of waiting another week and a half. We’ve had a Mickey Mouse Ride on for years. Matthew doesn’t care how old he is, he still loves driving around on it. So they don’t kill each other over it, Chloe now has a Minnie Mouse one. His and hers.

Both kids have started using the playroom more as well now. They are sitting together at the table, colouring in, even though that can go wrong sometimes, or on the floor watching Mickey Mouse. Chloe is looking for a good night kiss off Matthew each evening before they go to bed. When Matthew noticed that Chloe was naughty (or bold as he calls it), he doesn’t want to give her a kiss. It’s hilarious. But I persuade him in the end.

Now that we are in the festive season, I bought some Christmas activity and sticker books for the kids. We sat down one afternoon on the rug in the living room to do some activities in the book. Matthew kindly shared his stickers with Chloe in her book, even though they don’t even go into hers.

This is the last post of this years Sibling project. What fun it has been. Thanks to Lucy from Dear Beautiful Boy for creating such a lovely project. It’s nice to look back on the pictures each month and see how their relationship has developed and how different they look now. I can’t wait to start next year again.

Siblings in November

We are in the second last month of the Siblings project. To me it was a successful one and I really enjoyed linking up each month. Even though I was out by a few days at the start. Eventually I got the hang of it and managed to post on time. Today is actually a bit of a delayed one again though. I had so many posts coming up at once, that I completely forgot about the Siblings post. The only reason why I remember, is because I saw two post from two other bloggers about it. It meant I had to get my act together and start this post.

The end of October was a quite hectic and busy month for us. At this stage I probably bore you about the fact that we moved house four weeks ago. A lot of changes were going to be made and both kids were going to attend a new creche in the area. Thankfully the creche is only around the corner, kind of the same distance as it was in Sligo. They both did really well and Chloe already likes on of the minders and jumps into her arms every morning the last few days.

The first week it was induction week in creche which means they were only in for an hour or two. I was off that week from work anyway, for that reason. When I picked them up from creche, we went for a stroll around the estate. Matthew on his Little Tikes Ride on and Chloe in her Smart Trike. They loved it. They are so close now.

Since I picked up Chloe’s own little chair from IKEA, they love sitting together in the play room and colour in together or enjoy a biscuit or a drink together. Their bond is even closer since Chloe started walking. They both care for each other. A week ago Chloe was sick. She had high temperatures and a cough. Matthew came over to her and gave her a kiss on the head to make her feel better. The same happened this week. At the weekend Matthew and  I ended up going to the out of hours doctor because he had high temperatures and was just feeling unwell but he was sleepy, too. I wanted to make sure it was nothing else. Turned out he has a mild tonsilitis. He is feeling much better now and I think he is okay to return to creche for Thursday, even though he keeps saying he wants to stay at home with mummy.

On Sunday when Matthew felt miserable, Chloe came over and passed him his drink which I think was the cutest gesture. She also gave him a little pad on his leg. This evening they had some great cuddles on the bed. Chloe was tickling his head while Matthew was laying on her lap.

Of course it’s not always fun and games, even if I make it sound like that. We have multiple incidents a day where they could kill each other. Pushing for example is one thing, sharing toys is another. The screams out of the both of them sometimes. But meanwhile we figured out Chloe’s screams. She is such a drama queen when she doesn’t get her way, it’s almost cute.

Siblings in October

The last month has been quite a busy month for us in terms of Chloe’s mobility. She has been trying to walk for a good while now but only with the walker. She is a later walker but I don’t mind that at all. I read somewhere that it’s better for them to walk later rather than earlier. It’s supposed to be better for the feet. This was also our last month of taking sibling photos together in our house neighbourhood as we will moving house and town in just five days. I can’t believe how quickly the time came in the end.

The last few weeks we developed this new habit to bring them to the play centre every Sunday morning.  I started coming the first time but daddy decided to bring them on their own then while I was at home cleaning or boxing up items for our move. We are off from this week coming anyway to start on it but it always better to get a head start.

Now that Chloe was a bit more mobile the last four weeks, Matthew seems to be getting on even better with her. It’s so funny seeing them racing together around the house.  They like chasing each other round and round or playing hide and seek. Two weeks ago I finally got out the smart trike. It’s from 10 months onwards. Never mind that she is 20 months already but I suppose better later than never. So off we went for a stroll around the estate. Matthew still loves his Little Tikes ride on even though he is bit big too for it now. He doesn’t get the hang of the scooter and doesn’t want to cycle on the bike too long so this is the best option.

Not too long ago I reviewed one of thew Kiddy Smartfix car seats which is a group 2-3. Matthew loved it so much that he didn’t want to sit in his old one in daddy’s car. It meant we had to buy a second one for daddy’s car. A different colour of course. He was so happy. A massive box was left over. We decorated it with a few wheels on the sides and a steering wheel inside the box. The two of them were using it as a car as well as an airplane. I did have to interfered once or twice to make sure Matthew is not too rough on Chloe.

Last weekend Chloe finally started off walking and there is no stopping her now. We already had a few accidents and bumps but that’s all part of the experience. The cutest thing ever is when we are going off to creche each morning. They both sit on the first step of the stairs to have their coats and shoes put on. Chloe has never worn shoes before. I bought her two pairs   of Bobux but  she always hated them.  There is a pair that still fits her now which sits in the hallway with all the other shoes. She picked them three days and wanted them on her. Ever since she goes out to the hallway and picks them up herself when we go out. She even goes out of her way and picks up Matthew’s shoes. She adores her big brother.
