The Siblings Project June 2018

I know half the month of June is only gone but oh my what a first half we had. The weather was incredible and it felt like an actual proper Summer. It all lasted for almost a month. We are back to the wind and rain for now but it’s not too cold actually and plus it’s nice to actually get some air into the house because at some point it was unbearable.

When the sun comes out we are out all day. That’s pretty much it. It’s hard to get the two of them in when it’s like that outside. But at the weekend we normally have about two hours of wind down time and watch a movie. They are in a routine with it now which is nice.  Not too long ago I picked up a bouncy castle (now in the bin because it ripped) from Lidl for only €35. It’s probably the best money I ever invested. The kids were having hours on it.

Each update every month is supposed to flag the relationship between brother and sister. But honestly nothing has changed in the last month. They are like best friends. Long may it last. I am sure it will change once they are older and they don’t want anything to do with each other. For now hubby and me are enjoying the cute moments between the two.

The June bank holiday weekend we brought them both to the beach. Matthew loves the beach and could spend the whole day there. We were tempted to go to the Zoo though as we haven’t been over a year. However it would have been too warm and Matthew, at the age of five, still gets tired from walking around too long. So we tackled Portmarnock beach and spent about two hours there building sand castle, collecting, rocks, digging in the sand and having ice cream. The paradise for kids.

Last weekend we decided to go for a stroll in the forest park. It has been ages since we’ve done that a family. Matthew took along his bike which he was riding along the whole way. Chloe had her scooter with her but I ended up either pushing her on it, carrying it or carrying her. In a part of the forest near a bridge is a dodie tree. Matthew explained to Chloe that she needs to put her dodie up there now because she is not a baby anymore She wasn’t too convinced to be honest though. One day the dodie dairy will come hopefully. Pit stop was at a little cafe to have some ice cream.

Apart from adventures outside, together they are also loving iPad time together. It doesn’t matter if Matthew or Chloe watches something on the big TV, they both have to watch the same thing together on iPad in the end. Matthew is just too curious what Chloe might be watching. They also currently obsessed playing with Playdoh. They make up their own little games and serve parents ice cream and all sorts of stuff. It’s nice to see how they are so close. Of course there are times where they could be fighting over something silly or somebody did something. Bath time is becoming more tolerable too now. They got new squirters there only yesterday and had a water fight.

We are entering the Summer holidays in two weeks. I still have to work but I might take a few days off here and there so we can join the Summer together and capture more beautiful memories.
