A few weeks ago I said to myself that we are going to do a lot more walks as a family together at the weekend. It’s so nice to be able to do stuff as a 4 piece.

I might have mentioned in my blog post a while ago that I had purchased a second hand Phil & Ted double buggy. I haven’t used it at all until last weekend. Matthew is a big fan sitting in it especially when it’s raining. He loves having the rain cover over him which he calls “tent” or “house”. There’s way more space in it than there was in the MacClaren. I am pushing Chloe in her pram then as she’s not big enough to sit in the back yet.

So we really  started off the family walks last weekend but today we were super duper good. We went on 2 walks! After a refreshment for Matthew we headed off to Hazelwood which is a local forest.

Hazelwood is always special to me and hubby to walk in. This is where we had our first date 6 1/2 years ago and I laid eyes on him from that day (and laid my head on his shoulder as he can probably remember). Awwwww.

IMAG2554We started off looking at the ducks first, well Matthew chased them more than anything but he loved it. Next time we are planning to feed them.

After visiting the ducks we went on our walk trail. Matthew did brilliant. He walked all the way and didn’t want up one time. I have to say the trail is quite some distance and last time we did it he wanted up multiple times. So well done Matthew.

Giving Chloe a push.

IMAG2562Always ahead of everyone.

On our walk Matthew was busy collecting leaves. He made sure daddy, Mammy and him had one each.

Back at the lake we went over to the ducks one more time and daddy and Matthew went closer to them and daddy pointed them out to him.

This was a great day and a good way to end the weekend before daddy heads off to work tomorrow again. Next weekend will be even better because it’s bank holiday in Ireland.

Are you going for family walks regularly? What have you planned for the long weekend ahead?

Family Holiday Wishlist

I have to admit even before hubby and I had children we have never been on a holiday together. To some that might sound awful but there are reasons to that and the main reason really was the money. Of course we went to Germany once a year but I don’t count that as a holiday to be honest. It was to visit my family.

When Matthew got older I did plan on going on a holiday as the 3 of us but the idea must have got lost somewhere. The only holiday we’ve been on was to Cork. In fairness it was a 4 1/2 hours drive so I count that as a holiday. Mini break even.

Now that Chloe came along we have to wait with the holiday again until she gets older. I would have planned on one next year but we have so much going on with the wedding organizations that it would be unrealistic to organize a holiday on top of that.

But when we do get away finally there are a few destinations I would like to visit as a family.

1. Peppa Pig Worldpeppa-georgeMatthew is a huge fan of Peppa Pig. This would be the perfect theme park for him to go wild in. Either one of us will have to go with him or Chloe has to be a certain age so it’s definitely on the list.

2. Thomas Landthomas-land17

I seen many bloggers recently blogging about this theme park. Matthew used to be big into watching Thomas the tank engine. Not so much anymore now but he is obsessed with trains so this would be definitely something for him in the near future.

3. Lego LandEntrance_to_Legoland_Windsor

Located in Windsor, UK this is one of many Lego lands resort in the world. Not only Matthew would enjoy this I am sure daddy would too.

4. Cambrils Park Resortrandomimage-picker-portada

There has been a lot of talks about this family resorts in my little August Mummy 2012 group. Some of them have been a couple of times. It’s so family friendly and it looks brilliant. The only downside is that you will have to book well in advance to get your little home for the one or two weeks you are staying.

5. Roquetas De Mar1157226643

Roquetas De Mar is located in the south east mainland part of Spain. I’ve been going on holidays with my mum a lot in the past here. Probably 10 times to date. I just love keep coming back. So that’s the reason I would like to bring Matthew and Chloe one day too.

6. Disneyland Parisdisney1

Who doesn’t have this place on their list? The last time I’ve been to Disneyland was 20 years ago. Which means it is long overdue to go back. Its definitely not just a place to have fun in for kids.

7. Portugalalgarve, portugal

I’ve never been to Portugal before. I hear most people are staying in the Algarve area. I would definitely consider taking the kids here one day.

Have you planned on going on holidays this year? How old were your kids before you thought it would be ok for them?

Me and Mine {January}

I know I am 7 days late with this and I did plan to take a photo of the 3 of us but baby had a different plan on the day the linky went live. So I only got around to take a photo of the 4 of us now.

Me and mine January 2015

Matthew is still getting around to his baby sister. She is now a week old. I will publish a separate post for that later on. Matthew is quite funny telling the baby to “shh”.
Yesterday she was crying because I changed her nappy and once I put the dodie in she was quiet and Matthew went “yay” and clapped his hands. Toddlers are hilarious.

January was a quite month otherwise. I finished my maternity leave a week earlier than I planned so I had a nice relaxing 2 weeks at home before baby made her appearance.

It was my birthday January 21st. I turned 28. I didn’t do any celebration for it though because it is just like any birthday. Hubby and me went for lunch together which was a lovely treat.

I pack my bag and take with me…

It is getting closer to my due date now. I am going to be hitting the 36 weeks mark on Monday. This means it is time to pack my hospital bag and wash baby’s clothes this weekend.
I am so unorganised this time round. But I think it has got to do with the fact that I have a toddler running around the house who wants to be entertained too.

More than likely I will go over with this baby too just like I did with Matthew (10 days overdue).

When I first had Matthew I thought about absolutely everything and brought 2 bags into the hospital. Most of it I didn’t even use. But that’s the way it is when you are a first time mum. You want to be perfect, think of everything and don’t miss out on the smallest things.

This time I have thought about it a bit more and remembered back what was not necessary to bring and I have written down what I am going to bring. It will be only one bag. I hope this is of good usage to other mums out there who are expecting again as you forget so quickly what you brought on your first baby.

My hospital bag

For Me:

  • Dressing Gown (I am taking it just in case, but last time I was in labour in August and it was so warm in the hospital that I rarely used it, even though it was a light one)
  • Slippers, socks
  • 2x Nighties (one for labour, one spare)
  • Maternity Pads
  • Breast Pads
  • 2x Towels
  • Toiletries/Wash Bag (Don’t bring your heavy shampoo bottles with you. You can purchase small 100ml bottles in Primark/Penneys and fill them with shampoo, conditioner etc)
  • Hair Ties
  • Camera/Phone
  • Phone Charger
  • Comfy Going Home outfit (whatever fitted you at 26 weeks )
  • Snacks/Drinks (cereal bar, raisins, biscuits, fruit…etc)

For Baby:

  • 4x vests (I’d recommend bringing new born and 0-3 months size)
  • 4x sleep suits
  • New born nappies
  • Muslin squares (for cleaning up that milk)
  • 2x baby blankets (I love the cellular ones)
  • Hooded baby towel
  • 2x hats
  • 2x cot sheets
  • Cotton wool
  • Car seat
  • Going home outfit

Is there anything you brought into hospital and didn’t need at all?  Would you add on anything else?

Family Photos in One Place – 23Snaps

Today I want to introduce you to an app I am using frequently for storing photo memories of my son. I have been using it since Matthew was a newborn.

It’s called 23Snaps.

In a nutshell it is a private photo sharing app which was designed by parents, for parents. It is a secure way of sharing your child’s life with other family members and friends.

It is very common these days that a lot of people don’t print off the photos anymore and put them in a photo album because of the lack of storage. I have to admit I still kind of do that but only special moments like trips away. With a toddler jumping and running around I wouldn’t get around to do this much though so that’s why this app is quite handy.

All you do is create an account for yourself with an email address and a password. Once you done that, you can add your children.

Once that is done, add your partner and send him an email to let him know about the app so he can add photos in future too.
You can add any family members or give any friends access to look at the photos. All you have to do is send them an email to invite them.

And this is the way it is going to look in the end when you are finished with the setup.

What I like most about this app is that it filters down the photos into each month. Great way of seeing the development/changes in your child.

This app is not just for sharing photos. You can also record the weight and height of your child, or upload a video.

I have all the photos I have taken of my son saved on Dropbox but I am not going to look at every single one because there is simply too many. That’s why this app gives me the opportunity to choose those special photos/moments, upload them and keep them in one place and I have them to look at forever.

The app is available in the Android Market, Apple Store and Windows Store but you can also run it as normal on the website in your web browser.

Have you used this app before? What did you think of it? How do you store your family photos and do you make up photo albums in them or store them on a special app as well?
