Cork Trip Away – A mini holiday

A few weeks ago I blogged about some recommendation for a family getaway. We had ours this weekend. We went away to Cork mainly to go to Fota Wildlife Park.
Its a bit of a journey from Sligo so we decided to stay 2 nights because it was a bank holiday weekend anyways. It’s 4 hours 30 mins in fact. But as you may know people with young children it will take longer as you may have to have a break.

Saturday we had dinner booked at 6pm in the restaurant.

Sunday morning started off with some nice breakfast. The weather wasn’t the best. It was raining and windy so we decided to go to the zoo the next day and hoped the weather would hold up.
Instead we went to a shopping centre nearby and left some money there and had lunch.
Upstairs they had a kids play zone so we went there with Matthew. He really enjoyed himself. He likes the girls. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of it. He kept chasing that one girl.

Back at the hotel some relaxation was in order in the lounge and dinner later on.

The place was packed. So when you do plan on staying here go a weekend that is not a bank holiday weekend. We were lucky to get some dinner that evening. A lot of people after us have been turned down and had to have dinner n nearby or get room service.

Thankfully the weather improved and we could go to the Wildlife park today.
Matthew loved it.

It was definitely worth it going. It’s smaller than Dublin zoo but the animals are running around freely in the park.
