I hope you all had a nice week and are looking forward to the weekend ahead. Maybe you have some nice Christmas plans made? We are planning to go and see the Coca Cola Truck on Sunday. It’s in Dublin city which require me to take the public transport. I haven’t taken the Dublin public transport in over 8 years. It’s going to be interesting. But seeing the Coca Cola truck will definitely get you into the festive mood.
So today I have Jessica joining me in my blog series “A day in Parenting Blogger’s Life”. She blogs at Beauties and Bibs. Big shout out to Jessica. Have a look and see how her daily routine is with her little one.
First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.
Hi my name is jess and I am a first time mommy to a nearly 11 month old girl called Ava. Our life is very busy going from one play date to the next but we love to go home and have family time with Ava’s dad Jordan and our dog Kya.
How many times were you woken last night?
I think I was woken twice before I knew she wasn’t going to settle by herself and put her in with me. Generally every night Ava and I go in the spare room and co-sleep. I Love co-sleeping even if I do end up with a foot in my ribs or face most nights.
What time do you normally wake up?
We normally wake up at 5 but then Ava will have some milk and go back down till around half 8.
How much average sleep do you get a night?
I say to my partner all the time I didn’t sleep a wink last night, but when I recently tracked how much sleep I did have it came out that I had about 6 hours sleep in total so not too bad.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Go for a wee! Since being pregnant I am unable to go more than 5 hours without having a wee. Before I had her I could go all day and then think have I had a wee today ! sorry if TMI .
Tell me about your typical morning routine.
So I get up and get Ava sorted for the day get her dressed and change her nappy. I Then go and wash all the bottles from the night before and prep all the bottles and juice cups I will need for the day. Then I sort breakfast out for my dog and Ava. Somewhere in between all this I normally make myself a drink and forget about it and end up drinking it cold.
When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.
Every other week my partner works late so on them weeks I have sole responsibility for cooking meals. On those weeks I generally get Ava a cooked lunch if were out and about so I can just give her a sandwich for tea. If my partner is a home he is the one that does the cooking. We normally have things like Fajitas, Tacos or pasta bake.
What’s on the menu for lunch?
Today we are going to a soft play place so we will be having a sandwich lunch with snacks. I will more than likely take along some melon for Ava as this is her favourite at the moment.
Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?
We always eat together this is one thing I make sure we do every day. As my partner works I want to have this time for us to be a family. I also find if we eat together we eat better as I’m conscious of what I am feeding Ava.
What do you do after dinner?
We try to aim to have our dinner at 6 o’clock
What is your bedtime routine?
So after Ava has eaten her dinner we go straight up to have a bath. After she has had a bath we get her ready to for bed and have a quick snuggle. The she has a bottle in her bed and within minutes she is fast asleep. Although she doesn’t stay that way all night generally around 11 I have to go and settle her.
Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?
When it comes to blogging I don’t have a schedule at all. It all depends on what sort of day Ava is having and when she is asleep. I try to wait until she is asleep to do most of my blogging as I don’t want it to take away from my time with her. This does mean though that some night’s I can still be tapping away until the early hours of the morning.
