Janine’s Little World Turns Five – Win a Amazon Voucher

Happy Birthday To Me! This time five years ago I started this little space of mine. Honestly I wouldn’t have thought that five years down the road, I would be still here blogging about my day to life, parenting as well as my travels. A blog can be such a beautiful thing.

My blog is way more than a blog. It functions as a diary as well. There may be certain things I blog about that is not helpful or of interest to other people. That’s not entirely how I operate my blog though. I like seeing my kids grow up through my blog. I take thousands of photos every year, every month, every day. I even take the occasional video and keep them all safe on our Dropbox account. But who is going to remember the story behind those photos? This is where my blog comes in handy. I write about our adventures and I love writing about our adventures. Matthew is at the age now where he is able to read easy stories. The blog will be such a lovely memory for him and Chloe to read some of the posts in years to come.

I looked back on posts at the very beginning of my blog and honestly, I cringed at some of them. They were short, they had no structure at all. But we all have to start somewhere. In this last year I haven’t blogged half as much as I did the previous years. I just put too much pressure on myself blogging nearly once a day. It was too much stress. Instead I now blog once or twice a week. Statistic wise it also works out way better for me. People view the blog way more frequently. I have not gone fully idle, you can always find me on my Instagram account on a daily basis.

This past year I got to work with some lovely companies. I also stepped down on the reviewing products side of things. My kids are at the age now where I wouldn’t collaborate with companies who want to have educational toys reviewed that are suitable for toddler up to the age of three. They have found their niche of toys now and they have plenty of them. I don’t want to spoil them too much.

Apart from parenting, I am now focusing more on things I love doing which is traveling and DIY projects and home interior in general. At the end of last year I published a post about my European bucket list. I haven’t ticked anything off yet but I do have a few trips booked across the next few months. I will post about that in a seperate post. At the beginning of this year my friend and I ventured out to Barcelona for a weekend. We had a really nice time.

We also visited Hamburg over the Summer last year. Once a year I fly over to Germany to visit my friend as well as visit my hometown. I do have to admit up until last year I haven’t been to my hometown in four years. I know, it’s a disgrace really but I am making up for it this Summer. We booked a family holiday for a week in my hometown. I am really looking forward to it and show the kids around the town I grew up in.

Brand wise I loved collaborating with My Picture.co.uk (Canvas of every size), Oregano Designs (Irish based print business), Penwizard (personalised story books) and Desenio (gorgeous art prints).

It’s amazing how over a course of five years your taste of brand work can change. I remember those times emails would keep coming in about toy related brands, stuff you need for kids etc. Now it has gone more towards the home interior, lifestyle and travel direction. I am totally fine with that. Our children are not going to be small forever and so the blog will grow too.
