Me and Mine {December}

It is the last link up for the project “Me and Mine” which was created by Lucy from Dear Beautiful Boy. What a year it has been. I can’t believe I am linking up for the last time this year before we are entering the new year 2017. Tomorrow it will be officially the new year. I hope it will bring good things with it. For New Year’s Eve we are going to take it easy. We have friends coming over today who will stay with us three nights. Maybe New Year’s Day we are going out for a drink or two.

When I created the collage of Me and Mine 2016 it was so nice to look back on all the photos in the beginning. It’s amazing how the kids have changed within a few months. Not only that a few exciting things happened during the year. In March I set off to New York with a friend and explored the city. I have been twice before but I think you can never get enough of NYC.

Just a few weeks later we made the big step and decided to put our house in Sligo on the market and found a new house in county Kildare which is pretty much on the border of Dublin. It was just getting too much for hubby to travel each week, every week, sometimes more than once. I could keep my job so there was no issue at all. The only issue was to relocate the kids and settle them into a  new creche.

In August we set off on our first ever family holiday abroad. We flew to Spain. The heat might have been too much at times for the kids but they absolutely loved it despite that. Matthew was enjoying the pool time everyday and having fun with the other kids in the children’s pool. We are still deciding whether we are going on another summer holiday next year or on a few mini breaks in Ireland and the UK instead. Both I am happy with.

October was the big move. We moved from West to East of the island. It’s now nearly 2 1/2 months since living in the house and it definitely feels like home. I don’t miss the old house not one bit. Maybe it’s because we are so busy and occupied with the kids but I really love the house and the space they have now. We already had many gatherings with the cousins.
Another thing that happened that month was, I went to my first ever blogging even abroad. Destination was London. I really enjoyed it and I am definitely up for another one or two in the new year.

December we celebrated our first ever Christmas together in the new house. We had a wonderful time and made lots of lovely memories that I captured with my camera of course.

Daddy was loving:

• Matthew’s speech improvement
• Matthew understanding Christmas for the first time
• Matthew in his first Christmas Play at creche
• First Christmas together in the new house

Mammy was loving:

• New All in One PC from hubby for Christmas
• New Fitbit Charge 2
• Christmas Party/ Night Out with the work colleagues
• Ice Skating

Matthew was loving:

• Santa coming
• His new toys he got from Santa
• Playing a reindeer in his Christmas Play

Chloe was loving:

• Her new toys from Santa
• Her teddies more than ever, always goes to sleep with her cat blanket now
• Walks out in the Smart Trike

To reflect back on the year, as mentioned above, I created a collage. What I did notice was that I missed out on two months which are February and May. Can’t remember to be honest but next year I am going to keep on top of it and take part in it every month. Hubby is always dreading it when I say “family picture”. He knows what’s coming.
If you are a parenting blogger and you never took part in this project before, then I would definitely advise you to do it for next year. It encourages you to have so many lovely family portraits for years to come.

Steph, I didn’t think I could do it either and I was really bad in 2015 but 2016 I was really organised with it then and managed to do it every month.

Carie, as long as you have the kids occupied I think the move should be okay. We had them in creche at the time and took a week off work to box everything.

I’ve been a fan of the Siblings Project for a long while, and right now I do have one for Me & Mine so I may join in. Can’t see me being able to do it every month though, so we’ll see how it goes 🙂 Happy New Year to you #UKParentBloggers

It sounds like a busy but wonderful year. My husband has the same dread when he hears the words “me and mine” but we are both so happy we have them come this time of the year x

Were about to do a big move east to west across the middle of the UK so it’s a good omen to me that your move went so well. It sounds like you’ve had a lovely year and fingers crossed for an amazing 2017
