The Siblings Project March 2018

And so we have another month behind us again. The last month has been a bit mental weather and health wise. The end of February and beginning of March the country prepared for the arrival of the Beast from the East. Nobody would have though it was going to be that bad. We were housebound for about five days.

The kids were obviously excited to see that amount of snow. Matthew has seen snow before but not a huge amount like that. Of course the first thing he wanted to do, is get out there and build a snowman. Chloe was super excited too but once she realised the white stuff gives her very limited access of walking, she was having none of it. I had to carry her around in the feet of snow. Even though we were housebound and we all suffered from cabin fever in the end, it was a fun experience and out of all that, we got to know the neighbours better.

Even though they like to fight like cat and mouse, they also like to look out for each other. Whenever got hurt or she was upset about something, Matthew comes over and gives her a little hug. Now sometimes missus drama queen refuses the hug and pushes him away but that’s the joys of being a girl, right? And of course a threenager!

Now that the two are getting older, I’ve learnt when it comes to treats “buy the exact same thing for the two, otherwise there will be war”. The amount of times I heard “I want the same as Matthew”.  Easter is on the way and both are going to get a Buttons Easter Egg. We are going to have a happy Easter.

Despite the tantrums and the fighting, there are a lot of lovely moments between the two, too. Matthew absolutely loves his Lego at the moment. His dad bought him a new set from his latest travels. He needs a bit of help with it sometimes but overall he can do it all by himself and control his patience a bit better now. Chloe just wants to be like Matthew and so she likes playing with the Lego classic and makes towers, horses, anything she can come up with.

Chloe is also getting more confident going out in the garden and playing with Matthew rather than having one parent outside with her. We can watch her just fine from the kitchen but the door still needs to be a bit ajar so she knows we are still there.

It has been a crazy month hasn’t it? I definitely understand having the pressure of giving them the same too, even with 4 years between them they want the same!!
