The Siblings Project March 2019

Today is National Siblings  Day. What could be a better day to publish my siblings post for March. I used to write them mid half way through the month but it makes more sense to me now to have it the end of month (I know I am over that already), like I do it with the family photos.

March was a pretty relaxed month. We didn’t get up to too much at all. Over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend we headed to Galway to see Matthew’s godfather. We stayed for a long weekend and the kids just enjoyed dropping routine for a few days. The two had an absolute ball. It was lovely to see how much Chloe has come out of her shell once again. Up until recently, it would take her at least an hour to warm up and walk around the place. I’d say she watches Matthew more now, her big brother, and realises it is okay not to be stuck to mammy or daddy.

The beginning of March we celebrated daddy’s birthday. Chloe was helping me bake the muffins, while Matthew licked out the bowl. Of course he shared some of it with Chloe, too. The both loved picking out the different coloured candles that would go on each of the muffins.

The relationship they have with the cat is a bit mixed. Both grew up with cats around them, particularly Matthew. However sometimes he can be a bit rough around her and he just wants to chase her around the house. It’s okay to make a game out of it once in a while but I do keep telling him that Molly is scared when she is being chased and she does not like it. Chloe on the other hand is treating her like her baby. It’s very funny to watch actually. She picks her up to bring her inside and gives her treats. Most of the time Molly is okay with it. She knows Chloe is only small and wouldn’t go for her.

The end of the month hubby flew to New Zealand for business for a week. Thankfully that weekend it was lovely outside for the first time in a long time. We met up with the kids cousins at Powerscourt Waterfall for a picnic and a wander around. At the start Chloe was sitting on my lap for a while. Once Matthew went off with one of the cousins, Chloe had the courage to follow them and explore the grounds. They had such a fun day together.

But trust me, it is not always fun and games between the two of them. But that’s the way siblings are supposed to be, isn’t it?
