Christmas Gift Ideas for Boys 6+

How are you all holding up with the Christmas presents? Do you still need to buy a few last minutes gifts or are you all done? I am all done apart from the wrapping part. However this year Santa decided not to wrap the presents. They are going to be in the kids sack. The boxes are too big this year so I am going to leave it. Whatever the kids receive from us will be wrapped though.

I am not going to lie but I found it awfully hard to buy presents for my six year old son. Maybe it’s the age, maybe it’s what he is into, maybe he has too much already? When we sat down to write the letter he literally only had four wishes. Those four wishes are pretty pricey on the other side though. Chloe gets more this year which is a first but they are all mostly small purchases. I may get Matthew one or two more small things as I know he will feel left out if Chloe receives more than him.

The gifts below are aimed at boys aged six and older. You may find something for your boy if you are still looking for the right gift.

1. Mario Kart Track

For Matthew’s birthday he got one of these tracks but a very cheap one. It was really to get him interested in it and it lasted for a little while. However the stuff that came with it like the barriers always fell off and it was quite annoying. He really had his heart set on the Mario Kart race track. This is going to have sit in his room as otherwise it will take up the whole play room. But I’d say he will be delighted with it. Available in Smyths for €59.99

2. Playmobil Police Station

On Friday we went to hubby’s work as they held a Christmas Party with Santa attending. He got a new set of Lego. He has so much Lego in his room and in the play room at this stage that is a struggle to find a set he doesn’t have yet. For that reason I purchased a Playmobil set. I used to love playing with Playmobil at his age. Considering this is jail and police I think he will enjoy it. Available in Smyths for €54.99

3. Toads Switch Game

This game is based on Mario’s Odyssey (which I just can’t get to finish) It’s a game that was on my list but I still have one or two games to finish and I want to get Matthew off the Mario Kart game and start playing other games. This is a game that can be played as two players. Available in Smyths for €37.99

4. Monopoly Junior

We are starting a little collection of board games in this house. Monopoly has to be one of them. It’s aimed at kids aged five and older. This will be a nice game to play in the afternoon of Christmas.  Available in Smyths for €12.99

5. Squishy Mario Characters

As you may have guessed, Matthew is quite obsessed with Mario. For his birthday he received a squishy character from his god father. Ever since he wants to collect all the other ones. I think he has three or four now. Nikolaus was so kind and gifted him two. As they are a surprise, it was hard to pick one up he doesn’t have yet but I know the shape and think I got it right. He should be receiving the green turtle and the canon. Available in Smyths for €5.99

6. Super Mario Party + two controllers

A game the whole family can get involved. We only have two controllers. Chloe is yet a bit too small to play this but it was just cheaper to get the bundle than the game and the controllers separately.  The game has over 80 new mini games. Available in Smyths for €109.99
