Our June Bank Holiday Weekend Adventure

Well better late than never is what they say. The June bank holiday weekend is already one weekend behind us. I know it’s pretty quiet on my blog lately. But can you blame in this gorgeous weather we have been getting lately? I am  trying to keep the blogging down and enjoy more outside fun with the kids. You can always catch me on Instagram. I’d be on that nearly every day.

It’s always nice to get to spend another day at home with the kids. Particularly when you are a full time working mum. We made the most out of the weather that weekend. Prior to it, I bought a little paddling pool. We only used it once from that point onward as even though it was quite warm outside, there was a little bit of wind. Luckily that weekend we didn’t have any swimming or football to go to so we could design our days whichever way we wanted to.

A few days beforehand I painted the back wall in the garden but I still had to get a little bit more of paint. So we went to our local Woodies to pick up more. On the way back, we decided to stop by in the newest petrol station. As well as the fuel they added a take away, Papa John’s Pizza and Imsomnia to it. Another advertisement on their website was Boston Donuts. Lover of donuts we had to trial these. We chose marshmallow, Nutella, Ferroro Rocher and lemon drizzle. Each donut was €3. We definitely didn’t regret getting them.

Later in the afternoon it was getting hotter. It was time for the pool. Matthew had a ball sliding into the ball. Chloe stayed far away from it. She isn’t the biggest fan of water. Instead when Matthew got out of the water, she dried him off and he  jumped back in. It turned into a game in the end.

Our extra day of family time started off with bubbles in the garden. Daddy picked up a few things with Matthew the day before from Smyths. The main purpose was water guns as the one we had before were only 99 cent and they didn’t last very long. Then it was time to get ready for the beach. The kids had the choice to pick between beach and Zoo. One wanted Zoo, the other wanted beach. On a day like that, it would have been probably too warm and too packed to wander around so maybe next time.

There are so many different beaches around us but because we only moved to the East part of Ireland not only two years ago, we would only know a few. I used to live in Malahide before I met hubby and I found Malahide beach and Portmarnock beach always very good during the Summer. So we picked Portmarnock beach. But first we went for a bite to eat in a pub in Malahide. Then it was off to the beach…and to find a space to park. Thankfully we could park along the road because it was so busy. We found our spot and the kids enjoyed digging in the sand, making sand castles and topping it off with an ice cream at the end.

Next time we are going to try and bring a whole picnic with us so we can stay a little longer. Mondays aren’t always the best days to do this as Tuesday is grocery shopping day so the fridge is pretty empty the day before. Let’s hope the weather holds on for another while. Next weekend we have a Street Feast planned in the estate. It’s great for the kids to make new friends.
