Chloe, You are Eight

You have entered first class and your teacher is called Muinteoir Lynda. I dropped you off on your first day which was proven to be a bit difficult for you but you were fine after day two. I think it was all a bit overwhelming for you with all the kids storming into their classroom. I attended the parent teacher meeting and your teacher was telling me only lovely things about you. You fit well into the class and do your work with ease. You complete your homework no problem. The only thing we need to be working on a bit more is the reading. I think your favourite subject is art. You do enjoy P.E. too.

Bedtime has been an absolute disaster in the last couple of months. ๐Ÿ™‚ We are trying our best to establish a safe and calm bedtime routine with you but unfortunately you are scared to be alone in the room, even though you have the light and door open, as well as your nightlight beside you. We were told that reading and drawing will distract your mind and calm you down just before bedtime. This doesn’t always work though and poor mammy ends up sitting on the floor beside the door so you can see me. Hopefully we will be able to climb this hurdle one day and you can go to bed independently just like your big brother.

During the Summer we went on a family holiday in Mallorca. This has been the first proper Summer holiday since you were a toddler. You seem to be in your element when it comes to water. It is hard to get you back out and you enjoyed swimming on the floats we got all day long.

Which leads me to your swimming lessons you have been taken with Matthew for a while. Monday is the best day of the week for you as you really enjoy the lessons. Right now, you are between a level three and four. Once you master the breast stroke and frog kicks, you should be good to go in terms of being able to swim and hold yourself over the water. This will make things definitely a lot easier when we are heading away on holidays.

As the days are brighter now, after school or even at the weekend you enjoy cycling around the estate on your new bike which you got some time at the end of the year last year. You have become a lot more confident and ring the door bell at your friends houses to see if they want to come out and play. We only recently introduced you to the Fitbit watch we got you quite some time ago. This is great help because you are able to read the time now which means your parents don’t have to look for you in the estate to bring you home. We give you a time and you are mostly back on time. This gives you great responsibility. It is so nice to see how many friends you are making.

Just before Christmas you attended your first ever concert with mammy which of course was Westlife. You didn’t like how loud it was but you said you do want to go back to another one in the future.

Your eating habits are still pretty much the same. You don’t like to eat a big dinner with the family but you gladly snack throughout the day. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here and there you are eating a bit better though and you added watermelon to the list of your favourite fruit.

While your brother is busy with tennis coaching, soccer training and matches, you still haven’t had any interest in any activities. We tried the tennis coaching throughout the year again but you were not interested. Next year we might be enrolling you in basketball as this is only from the age of nine. However, you are great at soccer and so we are hoping that you could start this some time, too.

In terms of clothes you are a mix. As we now entered the dual sizes, a size 8 fits you well but a size 9 would be too big. But it is a okay for your hoodies as you do have more room. You developed a liking for Puma clothing so I picked you up a few t-shirts for the Summer. Shoe size you are a size 12 nearly.

As of now you lost eight teeth which you are very proud of. We encourage you to brush your teeth every morning and and before bed. Before bed can be a bit challenging at times as you are “too tired” but we tell you the importance of keeping your teeth clean.

You have become a very confident little girl over the last year and we are very proud of you. Here is to another memorable year.

We love you very much Sugy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mammy & Daddy xxx
