Chloe’s Fourth Birthday Party

Last weekend we celebrated Chloe’s fourth birthday. I wanted to document this a few days ago but busy day to day life got in the way. I find it important to write it down so I can look back on it in many years to come.

Matthew’s birthday party was pretty themed but this time I kept it very simple. Chloe doesn’t like it when there is too much fuss made about here. She is still a very shy little girl. So we decided to keep her party small and just have the cousins over for some food and cake. Next year we may have a party with her friends.

The evening before I prepared a curry so people get a choice. The main meal was pizza though which I ordered from a local take away place. It’s our favourite one.

The next day, which was Saturday, hubby brought Matthew to his swimming lesson as usual. Chloe stayed with me and helped baking her cake. This time she had a rainbow cake. As always I had ordered the icing sheet for the top of the cake. It’s a tradition now at this stage. I get this every single year from the same company. Chloe wanted a Paw Patrol cake this year. Your wish is my command.

Once the cake was ready and needed to cool down, we set the table and blew up the balloons. I stuck up the Happy Birthday banner, filled the bowls with sweets and we were ready for the guests to arrive. In the meantime I also ordered three pizzas.

Everyone started to arrive from 1.30pm onwards. Hubby was on his way home with the pizza delivery. As usual Chloe was stuck to my leg. It generally takes her two hours or more to “defrost”. After the food was consumed, the kids went off to play for a little while. Us adults were chatting at the table. Chloe was with us at all times of course. She is just not the type of person who likes too much noise and or too many people.

Later on after we tidied up the table with all the food, I set the table for the birthday cake. Chloe was too shy to sit on her own so it was daddy and Matthew who helped her blow out the candles.

I have made many cakes over the last few years and a lot of them are generally chocolate. However this time I tried a simple sponge with some rainbow colouring in it. It was definitely a cake that was most welcome. Something to remember for the next upcoming birthdays. Chocolate is not always the winner.

The rest of the afternoon was literally playing. The cousins had their Nintendo Switch with them so them and Matthew were sat in the living room playing together while the rest were watching TV or played in the play room. The adults were sitting at the table chatting away with a cup of tea until it was time to go home.

Overall Chloe told me that she had a lovely birthday. As long as there is a Paw Patrol everywhere she is a happy bunny.
