Our busy Midterm Weekend

Last weekend has been probably the first full fun packed weekend of this year. We have been hibernating a lot in January and the weather only started to pick up now. The wind is crazy these days. I don’t remember a day it has not been windy. So it was nice to get out and about as a family for once.

As working parents, we only take necessary time off when Matthew is off school. His February midterm break was literally just Thursday and Friday of last week so I didn’t see the point in wasting time off for that. Instead we booked a week off during the Summer and I may take one or two days off during the Easter break. The Easter holidays is two weeks long after all.

And so we substituted his days off for the weekend and filled it with fun and adventures. It was literally non stop all weekend and I think the kids were very happy.I really hope the weather stays like this for a while and Spring is on its way. It is a lot different compared to what we had this time last year.

On Saturday we spent the morning in the house and a bit in the garden playing while I was running around the house tidying and washing some clothes. Might as well when the weather is nice like that. Hubby was off playing tennis. After lunch we all hopped into the car on the way to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. I had booked a slot for us all to see the new Lego Movie 2. Matthew loved it the whole way through and was glued to it. Sometimes he can get bored if he doesn’t like the movie but he loves so Lego so nothing could go wrong.

After the movie we had a little wander around the shops. We ended up in the popup Disney Store and they could pick a small little treat. A lot of things were on sale which was handy. Matthew got a new Lego set. This time it was Star Wars. I think I really  need to invest in a new Kallax unit. The kids really wanted to go to the restaurant then. We picked TGI Friday’s. We haven’t been in such a long time and the food is just amazing there. I had the typical burger as always. What I love about it, is the fact the kids get to pick different sides likes beans or corn on a cob.

Of course we couldn’t leave the place until we had some sort of dessert. The kids decided to have two scoops of ice cream. Chloe had a Strawberry and Matthew had Strawberry and Vanilla. I chose a Chocolate brownie with ice cream, caramel topped with nuts. It was amazing. The rest of the evening we just chilled until bedtime.

The next day our adventure started once again after lunch. While hubby was playing a tennis match, we queued up at the Circus Gerbola in town. The weather was holding up nice so it was the perfect day to go. The kids have never been before and I don’t think I have ever been to a circus in Ireland. For once we were on time. I am not that familiar with the town regarding parking but there was plenty of parking available right beside the tent. We queued up to pick up our tickets which we booked via Event Brite and were guided to our seats.

Hubby joined just before the show started. The kids were treated with a lollipop and some candy floss. They were mesmerized by the performances happening on stage. Chloe’s favourites were definitely all the animals particularly the horses. She was not a fan of the man who popped the balloon. She hates popping balloon sounds. The show was just over two hours long. Hubby and Chloe left thirty minutes before the show ended, while Matthew and I stayed on.

It was definitely a day out with a twist. If the weather holds up this weekend (which doesn’t look like it by the way) we are planning to either go to the forest or the farm/park.
