Our Stay at Legoland Windsor Resort Part 1

My last post about our Easter break in the UK, and also the longest one. Though this was the most enjoyable one and it was such fun to relive all the memories we made in Legoland Windsor by writing it all down again. Easter is already three weeks behind us now. How time flies.

On a Friday we checked out of our hotel in Southampton early enough to head to Windsor and spent a full day in Legoland. The trip was only an hour which was handy, no whinging of “are we nearly there?” (though I still heard that once or twice in the back) We parked in the hotel car park as we were staying the night there, too. We were greeted by a lovely man at the door who explained to us how we get access to the park through the hotel with a key. There were two type of elevators. One for people who haven’t checked in yet but want to head to the park first and one for hotel residents.

Matthew was super excited. As we came through the hotel, our first stop was Heartlake City. This is mosly all Lego Friends. Chloe is still a bit young for it but she was loving all the different Lego Characters around the area.

We were very lucky with the weather that day. It was absolutely lovely and so warm. The kids even got a bit of colour in the face, even though it was only around 16 to 17 degrees. We passed The Kingdom of the Pharaohs and had a snoop around there and then headed straight to Ninjago World which only opened up two or three weeks beforehand. We were at the park early enough but the queues were so long already, we didn’t get to do that many rides to be honest. The kids played a little while in Ninjago World until we walked into Pirate Shores.

As we were entering Pirate Shores, it was near the lunch hour. We had an early enough breakfast that day so it was time to sit down for our lunch. Lunch was had in Pirates Burger Kitchen. It was the usual you would get in a theme park… burger, chips or chicken nuggest. Kids were happy anyway and they are not getting this on a daily basis. We were on holidays after all. Everyone’s tummy was filled and it was onto the Knights Kingdom.

We still haven’t managed to go onto any rides so daddy and Matthew decided to queue for Knights Quest. (shown in the video at the end of this post) While they did that, Chloe and I explored the grounds of Knights Kingdom and checked out the castle.

A quick pit stop at the ice cream van and off we went through the Land of the Vikings. Past that, this is actually where the main entrance of the park is called “The Beginning”. We first finished our ice cream and then walked into the big toy shop. The kids were allowed to pick something to take home with them. I picked up a new magnet. (I do love my magnets on the fridge and get one from each place I am going to) Matthew picked a new Lego set, a key ring and a Ninjago sword. Chloe got a key ring and a Duplo farm set.

Next we were entering Duplo Valley, perfect for Chloe’s age. But Matthew was quite enjoying it, too. In Duplo Valley they had a centre where the kids can build their own Lego creatures. I captured this in the video below as well. Matthew could spend hours in there but we had lots of other things to explore in the park. The queue for the Lego Duplo train that went above the people was 45 minutes long so we decided to skip it and head straight to Miniland. The kids were mesmerized by all the different Lego towns. Boats, racing cars and trains were driving around made out of Lego. We spent quite a good while there.

Daddy and Matthew then went to Brickville which is part of Duplo Valley. It’s a lovely playground. However it was very crowded which made it difficult to keep track of him. Meanwhile Chloe and I went through the shop onto the other side of Duplo Valley and discovered the Duplo train. Chloe was eager to go on it. So we queued up. It wasn’t too long at all. The train did two rounds. We then went back to the playground to look for the other two. Last but not least, we walked through Lego City. It was getting close to dinner time and we yet had to check in to our hotel. As we had another free day pass for Saturday, we decided to come back in the morning. Matthew really wanted to do the driving lesson but the queue was just way too long.

Stay tuned for part 2 coming up soon :)…
