The Siblings Project May 2018

We have had such a beautiful month. The weather was right up our street and the sun was shining most of the month. Summer has truly arrived. It definitely changes my mood. On the plus side I am only just back from a short holiday in Spain. The holiday blues is in full swing and we are already looking up destinations for next year.

We spent a lot of time outside in the garden. (the grass needs a cut very bad). It’s not fully finished for the Summer. It was supposed to be done up by a gardener but I am not even getting into the story. The garden is going to be my little DIY project for now, put it that way.  Matthew and Chloe have become such good friends.

Matthew is not going outside without Chloe being by his side. He doesn’t wanna play on his own. In fairness it’s much more fun to play with your sibling. Now that our cat is an outdoor/indoor cat, it makes everything so much easier, too. It means we can leave all windows and doors open and don’t need to worry about Molly running away.

Both together they were loving:

  • Cleaning out the sandpit and put fresh new sand in it
  • Playing in the sandpit for hours
  • Pretend play sliding down the slide into the pool (which was actually a blanket)
  • Washing mammy’s and daddy’s car
  • Pulling each other around in the Bollerwagen in the garden
  • Having lots of ice cream
  • Going on the bouncy castle in Greystones

Last minute I got a swimming pool when we had the mini heat wave. It is still sitting in the garden now as we are promised hot weather at the end of the month. Matthew doesn’t mind cold water at all. It was a different story when he was a toddler. He loved jumping into the pool and sliding into it. Thought I may have to put more water into it as it is quite shallow.

Chloe loved helping me fill the pool. Her and Molly are such good friends now. The first thing she does every morning, is asking for Matthew and then she is onto looking for Molly. They always have a cuddle each morning before she can start the day. I find it important to have a pet in the house when you have kids. It teaches them to take responsibility. In fact Matthew likes feeding the cat a treat each morning now. He knows she is only allowed a treat every now and again.
