Our Stay at Legoland Windsor Resort Part 2

In case you missed the first post of our Legoland Windsor Stay, you can pick it up again here. As day one in the Legoland Resort was coming to an end, it was time to check into our hotel. As a treat we stayed in the Legoland Hotel. The Castle Hotel is actually right beside it but the price difference was huge.

The check in was very smooth. We were given our two cards to get into our room but also to use the lift. It’s very secure I have to say. This is to prevent anyone else from entering the premises without even staying there. The kids were so excited heading up to the room. You can watch it in the video at the end of this post. The lift was covered in Lego wallpaper and a voice guided us up to the third floor which was the Pirate themed floor.

The room was very spacious. As you come into the door, on the right hand side is the children’s den. This is where the bunk bed is located with their own TV. This is so handy because it means parents can watch their own TV. As well as the bunk bed, if you have more than two children staying in the room, you can pull out the bottom bit which provides you with a third bed.

Through the corridor on the left hand side, is the coffee and drinks station as well as where you can hang your coats. On the floor sits a monkey made out of Lego on a treasure chest. Normally it’s closed and you have to fill in a sheet and make up the right numbers around the room to open it. It’s a great idea to get the kids involved in a treasure hunt. However, to our disappointment, this was never setup. I have already been in touch with Legoland and they kindly sent the kids a surprise gift in the post to make up for it.

Next up is the bathroom. All decorated in a pirate theme. There was even Legoland shampoo. We totally took that home as a souvenir.

I have to say I really loved the bedding of our bed. When I originally booked it online, I was torn between the adventures and the pirate room. I was wondering if the pirate room was a bit too scary for the kids but I was probably overthinking it as they loved staying there. Even a month later, Matthew is still talking about it and wants to go back. A full room tour can be seen in the video below.

Prior to our check in, we booked a table at the Bricks restaurant, just in case. They advised to do so, so we didn’t have to wait in the queue. There are two types of restaurants. If you feel like you want to sit down for a set menu, then go to the Skyline Bar. I loved the idea of the Bricks restaurant because they offer buffet. So basically a fixed charge and it’s all you can eat. HEAVEN! I have to say the food was actually amazing. In the middle of the adult’s buffet they had a child’s buffet setup. The highlight had to be the Lego shaped potato waffles. I loved all the dessert. And they had chocolate fountain where you could dip in marshmallows.

After dinner we explored the grounds of the hotel. There was entertainment every evening  just outside the restaurant. The kids went up for a little dance. Right beside the dance floor was a Lego inspired castle. You could walk up the stairs and inside a little room they setup a few Play Station consoles with different Lego games to play.

Then we discovered another level as we were heading towards the lift. There was a bar, some more playstation consoles and a movie room, plus a room full of Lego. Hubby and Chloe spent some time at the bar having a drink that evening (Orange juice for Chloe of course) while me and Matthew went into “The Brick Pit” as they called it. After that we sat down for a bit of movie time. The Lego Movie was on.

It was time to head to bed. We didn’t want to get up too late in the morning. We also had breakfast booked in the Bricks hotel for 8.30am. You actually have to check out of the room by 10am. As mentioned in my previous post, I had a voucher for another free day at Legoland. Our flight was not leaving until the afternoon. While hubby and Chloe checked out and put the bags in the car, me and Matthew went in again for a bit more ride time. A small part of the park opens up to residents of the hotel half an hour earlier. However we wanted to mainly go to Lego City and that part was only open to us from 10am. At least we didn’t have far to walk. On the way there Matthew met one of the Lego men.

When the whole park opened, we walked straight over to L-Drivers. This was something Matthew had his eyes on. It’s to learn how to drive your own car. It’s aimed at children from the age of three to five. They had another one across the way for kids from age six. To be honest, he could have done with that one. He enjoyed this one but it was sooo slow. Maybe next time.

Unfortunately we had to be out of the park by 11am to make our way back to the airport. So off we went quickly on two more rides. One was Duplo Valley Airport and the other one was Fairy Tale Brook. On the way out we ran into hubby and Chloe. They had a treat somewhere. It was time to say goodbye. One more quick photo at the entrance door with Kai from Ninjago. Matthew had an absolute ball as he was sad to leave Legoland behind him.
