Zhu Zhu Pets – A Pet without the Dirt Part – Review

The hamsters are on the lose in our house the last week. Spinmaster kindly sent us a Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster House Playset for the kids to test out. As well as that we also received an additional hamster and an adventure ball they can run a round in.

When Chloe saw the toy sitting on the counter in the kitchen, she wanted me to open it straight away. She saw the fluffy character. His name is Winkie. You can collect many more which are sold separately. The likes of Mr. Squiggles, Roxie, Num Nums and many more.  We all sat together on the floor and started putting the slide and tunnel together. To me it was a bit tricky than any other toy.  We got it eventually though. It comes with two doors to block off the hamsters going that way. You can decorate the tunnel and the doors with stickers which are supplied in the box.

To get the hamsters going, all you have to do is press a button on their back and off they go. They make their way through the tunnel, whether that’s up or sliding down. They decide. Chloe had great fun with these especially when they escaped through the tunnel. She shouted “get back”.

I really tried to get the adventure ball going too but I just couldn’t get the two halfs stick together for some reason. I was probably missing something. But in a nutshell you clip the two pieces together and click in the opening to put in the hamster. It means you don’t have to take apart the ball all the time. When you eventually have it in there, you stick a little extra piece on the hamster’s foot so it can then run around in the ball without falling over. I’ve seen videos online and it looks pretty cool but I did fail on this one.  Sorry guys.

The playset is available from Amazon and Smyths Toystore. It is suitable for children from the age of four years old but to be honest my 2 1/2 year old could play with it no problem. RRP is €35.99.

*Disclaimer: We were sent the set of toys for the purpose of this review. As always this is 100% my honest opinion.
